4 Tips for Making the Most of Your Window Treatments

Isaiah Brewer

As a homeowner, you have many options for window treatments. Window treatments are important for a number of different reasons. Window treatments bring style into any room while also blocking out light and providing some privacy. However, every window treatment is different and will provide more of one specific benefit over another. Here are four tips to help you make the most out of your window treatments and get what you are looking for:

Choose Curtains to Set Mood: Curtains are great for adding color and style in a room because they come in a wide range of colors. Choose lighter colors to bring in more natural light while also being able to block out the harsh rays of the sun. Choose dark colors if you want to block out light completely, which is ideal for bedrooms, especially a baby's room. Also, choose sheer curtains over thick curtains if you don't need privacy and want as much natural light coming into your home as possible.

Wooden Shutters: Wooden shutters are another option for window treatments. The benefit of shutters is that you can open and close them as you please, which gives you the ability to let in natural light and then block out the light completely and get 100% privacy in your home. This gives you great control over both privacy and light. On top of this, you can keep the wooden shutters in the natural wood color for warmth or you can paint them to match the interior design of the room.

Honeycomb Shades: Honeycomb shades are another option which also gives complete privacy in your home when you are looking for it since you can shut them completely. However, unlike shutters, you can open them all the way, which exposes the window completely. This is ideal if you want full on natural light in a space, which may be ideal on the second story of the home where privacy isn't needed during the day.

Sunshades: Sunshades are ideal if you want to enjoy the view while also having privacy in your home. These are made of a mesh that allows you to see out of them while not allowing anyone from the outside to see in. This way, you experience the view without sacrificing privacy.

When you consider these four tips, you can be sure that you choose the right window treatments for your home that will meet your needs completely.

Learning About Historical Window Replacement and Materials

Hello, my name is Valencia. Welcome to my website about windows. I want to share information about sourcing period-specific windows for your historical home. In many locations, historical societies will only issue renovation permits once the homeowner proves the materials are accurate to the build date of that structure. The windows must look and function exactly as they would new in that historical time period. My site will contain information about ordering, installing and maintaining these windows. I hope you will use the information on my site to keep your historical home in great shape through the decades. Thanks for visiting.
